Breakthrough Ideas 2021 Municipal Race Endorsements

Updated: Apr 3, 2021

Election Day for Municipal Offices is April 6.

Over 95% of Your Property Tax Bill is on the Ballot!

In the 2021 Municipal Races, Breakthrough Ideas has endorsed the following candidates:

City of Wheaton (Milton Township)

In the District 200 school board race these candidates agree with the need to fully open schools: Nickell, Blatner, Evans, Spans (7,8,9,10 on the ballot).

Wheaton Park District – Kelly, Barrett, Fahey

Milton Township Supervisor – John Monino

Milton Township Clerk – Nick Nathwani

Milton Township Trustees- Milinko, Castle, Ellis Soto

For College of DuPage Board, only Holan and Manno, both candidates are best qualified to represent students and taxpayers.

REFERENDUM Question: Shall Milton Township establish and maintain community mental health facilities and services including services for the person with a developmental disability or substance disorder and levy therefore an annual tax of not to exceed .15%?

Vote NO. Our property taxes are already too high and hurt our property values. This expense does not belong on a property tax bill. We have the second-highest property taxes in the nation. Taxpayers built a new mental health center at the county complex just a few years ago. The state needs to provide more funding, I agree, so force your state reps to make it a budget priority. This sounds good, but this is not a sound way to provide this critical service. The language is confusing, this is only for mental health.

The Township will not provide these services directly. They will contract out for them and much of the tax will be eaten up in overhead, auditing, and inefficient contracts. Once this is on your property tax bill, it will never come off.
