Illinois Governor Pritzker Signs Law to Permit Leftists to Continue Banning Books

*Warning: Graphic Imagery*

The Illinois General Assembly—composed centrally of apparatchiks of the “LGBTQ+” cultural revolution—has made national news again, and again for ignoble reasons. Governor J.B. Pritzker signed the first law in the nation to ensure that leftists are able to continue banning books with carefree abandon.

The partisan bill (HB 2789), passed along party lines and erroneously described as a ban on book banning, prohibits public libraries from accessing state grants unless they adopt the far-left American Library Association’s “Bill of Rights” that dictates that “materials should not be proscribed or removed because of partisan or doctrinal disapproval.”

Can you guess which demographic most assiduously proscribes materials because of partisan or doctrinal disapproval? Hint: It’s not conservatives—not by a long shot.

Who runs the publishing companies that refuse to publish picture books, Young Adult literature, and non-fiction that implicitly or explicitly dissents from or criticizes “LGBTQ+” dogma?

Who creates the Collection Development Policies embedded with partisan beliefs and values that determine what materials libraries will purchase with taxpayer money?

Who, in accordance with Collection Development Diktats, makes library purchasing decisions?

Who dominates the field of library science?

Who runs the American Library Association?

Who sought to get Amazon to stop selling Abigail Shrier’s book Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters and Ryan T. Anderson’s book When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment?

Who is bowdlerizing books by Roald Dahl, Agatha Christie, and R.L. Stine?

If you guessed “progressives,” you’ve won tickets to the next book bonfire to be held under the rainbow flag by leftists in Springfield.

Do you see how this psyop works? When libraries don’t carry conservative books that leftists hate, leftists never have a need to protest books, and, therefore, they can never be accused of being book banners. Tricksy bit of deceitful devilry, and conservatives fall for it again, and again, and again.

Leftists aren’t just banning books though. Oh, no, book bans are child’s play. Leftists are banning words too. Leftists in positions of power at prestigious universities are socially constructing entire lists of words they seek to ban. At the same time, they are socially constructing lists of words to force Americans to say or risk loss of employment.

At the ceremonial signing of the law to ensure surreptitious leftist book-banning continues unmolested, Pritzker ironically said,

“Book bans are about censorship, marginalizing people, marginalizing ideas and facts. Regimes banned books, not democracies.”

Pritzker spoke the quiet part out loud, but he did so counting on Americans not knowing who the real book banners, people-marginalizers, idea-eradicators, and fact-hiders are.

In faux high dudgeon, lead sponsor of the bill Representative Anne Stava-Murray (D-Naperville) huffed and puffed,

“Banning books is the sort of behavior that was once, for good reason, associated with the worst, most repressive and repugnant authoritarian regimes of the mid-20th century and before. The fact that this is even up for discussion in America in the 21st century is disgusting. And yet, just last year in my district, that discussion was spurred on by a few radical parents and the Proud Boys hate group over a book called 'Gender Queer.'"

What Stava-Murray conveeeniently left out was the reason some community members want Gender Queer out of school libraries that service minor children. Here are just a couple of reasons why:

Parents were not asking that Gender Queer be banned, burned, or prevented from being published or sold. They objected to the obscene comic book graphic novel being in a library for minors.

Pritzker continued hiding truth in plain sight:

"Here in Illinois, we don't hide from the truth, we embrace it. Young people shouldn't be kept from learning about the realities of our world; I want them to become critical thinkers, exposed to ideas that they disagree with, proud of what our nation has overcome."

Do leftists really want kids to be exposed to ideas leftists disagree with? What about those pesky ideas that leftists hate and claim are bigoted, intolerant, and “unsafe”?

If Pritzker is honest about what he wants, then why are there no picture books about anthropomorphic animals being raised by two mommies who long for a daddy?

Why are there no Young Adult novels about detransitioning young women who feel suicidal because of their beards, manly voices, and breastless chests? Why no novels about teens who hate the sexual non-monogamy of their two fathers or the cross-sex impersonations of their mothers?

Since Pritzker wants young people to learn about the realities of our world, will he plead for teachers to provide materials that tell kids about “neo-vaginas” constructed from inverted penises or smelly sigmoid colons, or about the risk of “vaginal stenosis”?

Will he urge schools to teach kids about fake-labia necrosis? Will he ask teachers to share with kids stories of men who, following penectomies experience urinary splaying, which is when their urinary stream sprays all over?

In the service of teaching about reality, does Pritzker want teachers to tell kids about the realities of non-functional “neo-penises” constructed for women from chunks of their arm or thigh flesh?

If libraries are going to make available materials that depict dildos, oral sex, and anal sex, why not books with images of necrotic labia and splaying urinary streams?

This law was the brainchild of leftist Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias, who is also the State Librarian (whatever that is). He asserted presumptuously that book challenges from conservatives “have nothing to do with books. … Instead, they are about ideas that certain individuals disagree with and believe no one should think or be allowed to think.”

That is precisely what obsesses leftists—not conservatives. While conservatives object to obscenity in school libraries and children’s book departments, leftists work feverishly behind the scenes to prohibit libraries from carrying any books for children that depict or espouse ideas leftists disagree with and believe no one should think or be allowed to think. Do leftists believe that children in elementary, middle, or high school should be exposed to stories in which the ideas that homosexual relationships and/or cross-sex identification are immoral and harmful are depicted in word and image? Or do they seek to prohibit libraries from carrying books with these ideas?

Interestingly, Giannoulias expressed what conservatives say:

“We are not saying that every book should be in every single library.”

Exactly. But then he returns to the troubling leftist script:

“Let’s trust our experience and education of our librarians to decide what books should be in circulation.”

When conservatives express their views on which books should or shouldn’t be in libraries—including elementary school libraries—it’s “book-banning.” If leftist librarians with their leftist experiences, education, beliefs, standards, values, and partisan doctrine decide what should be in libraries, it’s … not.

Call this law a cunning political ploy, a gas light, or a psyop. Call it anything you want except a legitimate effort to curb illegitimate book-banning.
