HB 5164 – Name Change Law for Illegals and Others

Allows petitioner to request to change their name after only 3 months, instead of 6 months, of residency in the state. Sets a fee of no more than $25 for the filing of a name change. Prohibits public disclosure of the name change and allows for impoundment of the file. This bill applies to illegal aliens residing in the state.

This bill passed and was signed into law by Governor Pritzker.
