USA Today Columnist Rex Huppke’s Idiotic Take on Harris/Baier Interview

Former Chicago Tribune columnist/lefty Rex Huppke who now plies his trade for USA Today wrote a foolish opinion piece on Kamala’s shipwreck interview with Fox News’s Bret Baier.

Huppke tries to recast the snide, shrewish Kamala as a fierce warrior-woman who is able to leap tall buildings and grapple with tough interviews, unlike, according to Huppke, Donald Trump. Either Huppke is too uninformed to know that Trump has been doing tough interviews with hostile, biased lefties since 2016, including through this campaign season, or he’s a bald-faced liar.

Huppke wrote,

1. [Harris] has far more guts than her opponent, Donald Trump.

2. Fox News remains an arm of the Republican Party.

Seriously, he wrote that. No mention of the ideological and political incest between the DNC and CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, New York Times, Washington Post, Meta, (and Twitter before Musk restored freedom to it).

Huppke whined, “Baier barely let the sitting vice president get a word in edgewise, talking over her constantly throughout the interview, interrupting her over and over again.”

Maybe the reason Baier tried to interrupt her is that instead of answering his questions, she was reciting the same talking points she has recited in every one of the few public speaking engagements she’s agreed to—with friendly outlets, of course.

In addition, she was late for the interview, so Baier had little time to waste, while Harris desperately tried to use up the time with another recitation of talking points irrelevant to the questions asked. Methinks this was a tactic hatched by her campaign to try to keep her out of yet more rhetorical doodoo. As it turns out, keeping her out of her own doodoo is an impossible task.

By now everyone fully understands that Kamala and her team of jesters knew she would be a disaster in an interview with a real journalist, so they arranged for her to be late and to filibuster. Being grossly late for an interview that was scheduled to air immediately after taping is rude, dishonest, unprofessional, and unpresidential. Has any leftist outlet acknowledged what she and her team did as they criticize Baier for interrupting her filibuster during the meager minutes Harris left him?

Unfortunately for the Harris/Walz ticket, this tactic was obvious. She didn’t come across as a powerful woman taking charge of an interview. She came across as a weak, defensive termagant who is terrified to respond directly to questions with extemporaneous answers.

Huppke, unable to hurl the racist epithet at Baier, plucked the other arrow from the leftist tactical quiver: He implied Baier is a misogynist, or at least a chauvinist, saying Baier “behaved very much like a man with little respect for what a powerful woman has to say.”

Others beg to differ. Baier was the picture of respect and patience. Not allowing a guest to run roughshod over him as she tries to avoid answering questions does not constitute disrespect. Refusing to answer questions, however, constitutes disrespect for both the interviewer and voters.

Harris is a weak, manipulative opportunist who has progressed up the political ladder through strategic connections, deception, and exploitation of sex and race. She needs to put on her big girl pants and actually answer hard questions.

She needs to try doing one tough interview without reciting her script in different accents and tones of voice. Trust us, Kamala, we know about your plans for small businesses and new homes. We know about your claims about prosecuting international gangs. And we know that as you spout off about uniting the country and building people up rather than beating them down, you tell us how much you detest Trump.

Now we’d like to hear from you on these topics:

1. When did you realize Biden was mentally unfit for office?

2. What Biden policies did you disagree with?

3. Why didn’t you go to the southern border before you were the presidential candidate?

4. Should your administration have rescinded Trump’s border policies?

5. What do you think about the Afghanistan withdrawal?

6. Why did you avoid interviews with conservative news outlets for so long?

7. Why have you had no townhall meetings in which you take questions from ordinary Americans whose vote you seek?

8. Could you talk about the plagiarism accusations leveled against you?

9. How many cartel cases did you personally prosecute?

We’re waiting with bated breath to hear from you.
