The day after the election, a local and much-loved restaurant in Wheaton, Illinois put up a banner that says, “JESUS IS MY SAVIOR” on one side and “TRUMP IS MY PRESIDENT” on the other side, with an image of the American flag in between. According to an Instagram post from the owners, the restaurant, Moveable Feast + Co, immediately began receiving hateful comments that included threats of lawsuits and warnings that the restaurant would be put out of business. In addition, the restaurant, owned by Matt and Ashley Marquez, was reported to the health department.
It’s safe to assume that these hateful, intolerant, bigoted comments, and threats to destroy the Marquez family’s livelihood came from supporters of the joyful unifier Kamala Harris. Several years ago, I wrote about the “Hate Has No Home Here” yard signs popping up all over Wheaton to sneakily scold and condemn Trump supporters. Sadly, as Matt and Ashley Marquez, parents of four young children, are learning, hate has a home everywhere, particularly wherever leftists live.
Here are a few of the ugly ignorant comments, ranging from the vengeful to the vulgar to the childish, that were sent to Moveable Feast:
- “Good luck! You’ll be closed in a few years.”
- “Fuck you. You’ve lost my business.”
- “Thank you for posting this. I really appreciate when racists announce themselves. It makes deciding where to spend my money so much easier.”
- “I won’t be spending my money at your establishment. I will also let my family and friends know not to give money to someone who supports a convicted felon, a sexual predator, a cheater, and a racist. I’ll also make sure to share on my socials, so that everyone knows what kind of people own this establishment.”
- “I bet you ate paint chips as a child. Why would you bring politics into your business, no wonder you’ve been struggling. No ones going to feel bad for you when you go under. And btw Trump isn’t going to bail you out.”
What these moral ciphers are saying is that if their fellow citizens don’t vote the way the ciphers want, they shouldn’t be able to make a living. So filled with the milk of human kindness and a desire for unity amid diversity. #EPluribusUnum
Such actions and words expose common leftist sentiments: They don’t value tolerance or diversity, and they loathe freedom to choose unless they have the unilateral power to circumscribe the choices.
Nasty commenter #5, who presumes to know how all people will feel if the Nasties are successful in destroying the Marquez’s business, asks why the Marquez family would bring “politics” into their business. It’s an odd question from a leftist in that leftists have been bringing their politics into their businesses and everyone else’s for years.
Leftists have culturally appropriated the entire month of June during which businesses big and small all over the country put up banners, signs, and symbols announcing their reverence for and celebration of leftist theories about sexuality and gender.
Leftists have coerced corporate America to indoctrinate employees with CRT/DEI propaganda and advertise those political beliefs. Remember Target? Remember Bud Light?
Leftists have coerced all of the entertainment industry to genuflect to the homosexual/trans industrial complex. Now, every streaming series, every movie, and even many children’s programs are politicized with leftist messages about sexuality and gender.
I doubt that Nasty #5 objects to any of that politicization of business. Instead, he/she/ze aims his/her/zir ire, virulent hatred, intolerance, bigotry, and destructive impulses straight at a small family-owned business in a small town in the Midwest.
Word to Nasty #5: Trump is your president too. Over 72 million of your fellow Americans voted for him, and he is now the president of all Americans. Or do you not accept the results of the election?
Nasty #4 libelously called Matt and Ashley Marquez racists. Why would he/she level that peculiar accusation—I mean, other than that’s the go-to ad hominem of leftists these days? Marquez is a Spanish surname and common in Mexico.
Maybe Nasty #4 was so busy drowning in his/her leftist tears in his/her safe space that he/she didn’t notice how many Latin and black men and women voted for Trump. Are they racists too? What about the Harris supporters who say all whites are racist? Are those Harris supporters racist?
Nasty #4 is so furious at anyone who voted for “a convicted felon, a sexual predator, a cheater, and a racist” that he/she wants to destroy their ability to feed their children.
Instead, Nasty #4 wanted Americans to vote for a woman,
- who lied to the American people repeatedly for years about Biden’s cognitive ability;
- who supported the corrupt influence-peddler Joe Biden;
- who supports the unfettered legal right of women to have their offspring—living humans with their own unique DNA and bodies—slaughtered for any or no reason until the day of their birth;
- who opened wide the border, allowing human traffickers and drug dealers to wreak havoc in America;
- who wanted struggling American taxpayers to pay to turn prisoners into eunuchs;
- who wants to allow men to invade women’s sports and private spaces;
- who has supported economic and energy policies that have left the finances of ordinary Americans in shambles;
- who is married to a man who knocked up his young children’s nanny and hit his previous girlfriend so hard his assault spun her around;
- and who opposes school choice.
And Nasty #4 wants all Americans who voted for Trump to see their livelihoods go up in flames.
That, my friends, is the leftist reimagining of safety, tolerance, diversity, unity, and compassion.
If you are in the Wheaton, Illinois area, consider supporting Moveable Feast + Co. Word on the street is the food, service, ambience, and owners are fantastic.
