Immediately after the 2024 General Election in which the Democrat candidate for president was roundly trounced, J.B. Pritzker, Illinois’ disastrous governor, announced that he was going to double down on one of the issues that is driving Americans out of the Democrat Party. On Nov. 16, Pritzker issued this announcement:
This Transgender Awareness Week, I want you to know that I see you and have your back as governor. Illinois has enshrined protections for gender-affirming care to meet this moment — and because of that, you will have a home here always.
Three issues animated voters in huge numbers to elect Donald Trump: the economy, illegal immigration, and “trans”-cultism.
As it turns out, millions of Americans don’t want boys or men in girls or women’s restrooms, locker rooms, and sports. They don’t want public schools promulgating “trans”-cultic superstitions as facts. They don’t want public schools facilitating “social transitioning” and concealing their facilitation from parents. And they don’t want the leftist-controlled medical and mental health communities chemically sterilizing, surgically mutilating, and affirming gender confusion as a healthy “identity,” all “treatments” of which fly in the face of science.
What can account for Pritzker’s arrogance and disregard for both science and the will of the people? Maybe Pritzker’s arrogance and disregard for the interests and welfare of Illinoisans derives from the ideological uniformity Dems have created in Chicago’s halls of power. They don’t suffer diversity gladly.
Or maybe it’s his massive wealth which shields him from both the consequences of his decisions and from the people who do suffer from Democrat policies.
In Orwellian fashion, Dems like Pritzker believe they can attach the words “care” to procedures that harm in order to deceive the deplorable, garbage-y masses. Disrupting puberty, doping adolescent girls with testosterone and boys with estrogen, and performing double mastectomies on healthy girls is not care of any sort.
Having the backs of minors means protecting them from irreversible harm committed by quack science endorsed by mentally ill adults and profiteers.
In 2019, J.B. Pritzker signed an executive order creating a task force to socially construct as many ways to “trans” government schools as their darkened minds could invent. In announcing his nefarious plans, he reaffirmed how full of cr*p he is:
This executive order is one more step toward securing Illinois’ place as a leader in … hope.
He actually said that.
When Americans cast their desperate eyes around the country looking for states that stand out as beacons of hope, the first state they think of is “Illinois”—yeah, that’s the ticket.
But why then are so many Illinoisans hightailing it out of this Land of Hope?
Pritzker is kinda, sorta right-ish on one point. Of course gender-confused pre-teens and teens live in houses or apartments here in Illinois but neither the state, nor the city of Chicago, nor the toilet-free mansion of Pritzer is the home of gender-confused teens.
Their homes are with their parents who are fighting to protect their confused and hurting children from Pritzker, from the “guidance” invented by Pritzker’s handpicked team of leftist minions, from Pritzker’s cousin—a man with deep pockets in his lady frock—from teachers unions, and from public school staff who love their perverse gender ideology far more than they care about children.
By now, most Americans know that leftists like Pritzker use Orwell’s 1984 as a guidebook rather than a warning. Orwell explained how Newspeak works to advance the aims of tyrannical governments:
It was intended that when Newspeak had been adopted once and for all … a heretical thought … should be literally unthinkable, at least so far as thought is dependent on words. Its vocabulary was so constructed as to give exact and often very subtle expression to every meaning that a Party member could properly wish to express, while excluding all other meaning. … This was done partly by the invention of new words, but chiefly by eliminating undesirable words and stripping such words as remained of unorthodox meanings, and so far as possible of all secondary meaning whatever. … [T]he special function of certain Newspeak words … was not so much to express meanings as to destroy them. (emphasis added)
Another surprising term of Newspeakian art can be found in Pritzker’s “guidance.” In section II-C of the “Non-Regulatory Guidance Relating to Protection of Transgender, Nonbinary, and Gender Nonconforming Students,” the term “sex” is redefined in a remarkable way:
Sex – Defined in the Act as “the status of being male or female.” A student’s sex is not limited to their sex at birth or genitalia, because the legal definition of “status” is broad, and status may change as it is not externally fixed.
The guidance further elaborates,
The Act’s definition of “sex” is “broad” and “does not draw distinctions based on genitalia, the sex marker used on a birth certificate, or genetic information.” The “status” of being male or female is not an “immutable condition” that is eternally fixed. A student’s gender-related identity is one of the factors that may be used to determine a student’s sex.
According to Pritzker’s language police, “sex” no longer means much of anything. By non-regulatory bureaucratic fiat, aided and abetted by Newspeakian legalese, sex is wholly severed from anatomy and biology. Just add the non-scientific, amorphous word “status” and, abracadabra, sex = gender. It’s as if the leftist-appropriated term “gender”—which in the olden, golden days was a synonym for sex—had chewed up and swallowed whole the very idea of biological sex.
It’s worth noting that nowhere in the Illinois Human Rights Act does it say that the “status of being male or female” is unrelated to genitalia, original birth certificate “sex marker,” or genetic information. Pritzker’s unelected bureaucrats engaged in de facto lawmaking with no authority to do so.
This “non-regulatory guidance” also asserts this:
Use of restrooms, locker rooms and changing rooms may not be restricted based upon a student’s physical anatomy or chromosomal sex. A student must be permitted to access restrooms or bathrooms, locker rooms and changing rooms that align with their gender-related identity and without having to provide documentation or other proof of gender.
Under the Act, the discomfort or privacy concerns of other students, teachers, or parents are not valid reasons to deny or limit the full and equal use of facilities based on a student’s gender-related identity.
In contrast, the Illinois Human Rights Act states,
Nothing in this Article shall apply to: Facilities Distinctly Private.
Any facility, as to discrimination based on sex, which is distinctly private in nature such as restrooms, shower rooms, bath houses, health clubs and other similar facilities for which the Department, in its rules and regulations, may grant exemptions based on bona fide considerations of public policy.
Here’s a truth inconvenient to leftists: Sex does not and cannot change. Sex is fixed. But here in Pritzker’s Illinois, no longer will publicly funded schools recognize and respect biological sex as an objective, immutable aspect of students’ identities that must be honored in all spaces, especially where physical embodiment matters, for example, in restrooms, locker rooms, and sports.
In a doctrinaire Democrat dystopia, all that matters are subjective, internal, often fluid feelings about one’s maleness or femaleness.
As Illinois—including Cook County—slowly becomes redder, presidential-wannabe Pritzker keeps digging his colossal hole, leaving in a pile of dirty policies incalculable human suffering and hopelessness.
