What Elmhurst School Board Candidate Tom Chavez Discovered About Campaign Mailers

Former State Representative and Breakthrough-Ideas founder Jeanne Ives just interviewed Elmhurst School District 205 school board candidate Tom Chavez regarding the pernicious mailers sent out about him.

The mailers accuse him of being an “extremist,” who supports “book bans” and “censorship” and seeks to “control what we read and teachers teach.” That’s a mouthful of leftist jargon, so let’s try to figure out what is really being said, who is saying it, and why they’re saying it.

First, a bit of relevant context is warranted.

District 205’s School Board currently has only one conservative on the seven-member board. This lone conservative’s term is expiring, and he is not seeking re-election.

There are five candidates vying for three spots, and only one is conservative: Tom Chavez. If he does not win, the board will look exactly like National Public Radio’s editorial board. It will have zero conservatives. That’s the kind of “diversity” leftists love. School boards all across the country lust after ideological monopolies. Even one school board member to represent the interests of conservatives in the community is too many.

Mr. Chavez did some digging to find out who was behind the mailers. In his interview with Jeanne, he shared the troubling source of the dishonest mailer:

The source of the political attack flyer that many Elmhurst residents are receiving in their mailbox is a far left, Chicago-based, pro-abortion, pro-sexualizing children, pro-LGBTQ, pro-transgender indoctrination inside school classrooms PAC called Personal PAC. … among the things they support are the promotion of comprehensive sexuality education inside schools. … getting rid of parental consent for minor children to receive medical treatment, aka abortions. …

Why is this Chicago based PAC interfering in Elmhurst school board elections? The more important question is who is behind it?

According to the publicly available data that anybody can … find, Marty Deuter, the new Elmhurst state rep., received a donation from this PAC for $4,200 for her campaign.

Marty Deuter’s campaign manager is … Diane Lans-Kautz. And Diane Lans-Lautz is a self- proclaimed LGBTQ activist, and she’s also the co-founder of the Elmhurst Pride Collective.

Diane Kautz isn’t necessarily interested in your children doing better academically in school. … She’s really most interested in … making sure that the ideology that she believes in finds its way into school classrooms.

Oh, what a tangled web leftists weave.

Mr. Chavez dug yet further by filing a Freedom of Information Act request and, hoo boy, did he discover something Elmhurst conservatives should know.

He discovered hundreds of emails from Kautz and her business partner Stephanie Wargin, who has a crossdressing son, to District 205 leaders:

Diane and … Wargin, who run the Elmhurst Pride Collective—I have FOIA’d their emails. There are hundreds of them. And they go directly to school administrators, the school board, and activist teachers.

[Kautz and Wargin] never go to school board meetings and say, “this is what we want for your children. We want your children to use pronouns in the classroom.” They do it behind parents’ backs. They never go to school board meetings and say, “this is what we’d like to do,” because that would be honest, and they’re very dishonest people.

Now that we know the names of some of the activists behind the scurrilous attacks on Mr. Chavez, two linked questions remain: What are the mailers really saying and why are they saying these things?

References to “extremism,” “book banning,” and “censorship” tumbling out of the mouths of vipers mean the following:

“Extremism” in the mouths of leftists refers to anyone who disagrees with them on matters related to sexuality, “gender,” race, CRT, DEI, feminism, and obscene material in K-12 public schools.

Extremism in the mouths of leftists has nothing to do with supporting co-ed bathrooms, forcing others to use false pronouns, or pretending that boys can become girls by the sheer force of desire and imagination.

“Book banning” and “censorship” in the potty mouths of leftists refer to any claims that publicly funded schools should not make obscene, age-inappropriate material available to minor students.

“Book banning” and “censorship” in the minds and mouths of leftists do not refer to the “collection development policies” socially constructed by leftists that serve as de facto book-banning and censorship mechanisms to keep conservative books on sexuality, gender, and race out of school libraries. And “book banning” and “censorship” do not refer to the total curricular absence of any books that criticize leftist ideas on homosexuality, “gender,” or race.

The reason some leftists are hurling these epithets at Mr. Chavez is that in April 2023, Mr. Chavez did what every parent in that district should be doing. He appeared before a school board meeting to express opposition to a dumbed-down curricula that included in the freshman English curriculum a book with fifty-five sexual passages of which this is one:

You got busted with a white girl. Get out of my house. Is she moving, wait for you, or just have you around to suck your dick? How am I a ho when I’ve been with one dude? Dray took my virginity, and I’m still with the same nigga I fucked with.

To leftist activists, anyone who opposes using public resources to make obscene material like this available to fourteen-year-olds is an extremist. Those who make obscene material available to minors are definitely not extremists.

In his interview, Mr. Chavez succinctly summarized the goal of leftists for public schools:

What’s really driving this flyer … is people who are uninterested in improvement in academic outcomes and people who are interested in indoctrinating your children and … wedging themselves between parents and their children.

In addition to exposing leftist dishonesty, covert activism, and outside interference in a local school board election, these attacks on Tom Chavez reveal the truth that leftists detest diversity.

Elmhurst voters should learn from the morally repellent actions of leftists in their schools and community to get to their polling place in droves to vote for the gracious, smart, principled Tom Chavez.
