The Democrats passed all the above and more. And it took them only 24 hours to do so. I got an email from a lobbyist at 2:15 am on Friday, October 31st, that the assisted suicide bill was headed to the Senate floor for a vote. Within the hour, the vote was taken and the bill passed with the bare minimum of votes in the Senate.
Like thieves, the Democrats do their ghoulish work in the dark when no one is watching.
Every single bill that passed furthers Illinois’ reputation as a state that has lost its mind as it tries to outdo the radical policies usually associated with California. Below is a short brief on the checklist above and a link to an article about the legislation. However, the more important discussion is about where these policies are coming from and how much more tolerance Illinoisans have for them.
- More Green Energy Scams – SB 25 HFA4 – Raises taxes and/or electric rates by $8 Billion and gives an unelected board all the power over energy decisions in Illinois. This legislation will force Illinois taxpayers and ratepayers to fund the expansion of wind, solar, grid-scale batteries, and transmission work to add unreliable and expensive energy to the grid. Meanwhile, other states are expanding natural gas power plants and keeping their coal plants in service.
By the time reality hits the Democrats who believe in the climate change is an existential threat to humanity hoax wake-up (which Bill Gates just did), the Illinois Democrats will have spent billions on their green energy fantasy. This bill was written by special interests – they will take all the money they can over the next ten years, funnel it back to the politicians who voted for this bill, and it will all fail to produce the energy promised after bankrupting ratepayers.
- Bailout Chicago Transit – SB 2111 HA3 – Raises taxes and raids the road fund by an estimated $2 Billion to bail out Chicago and suburban transit systems, forcing all downstate residents to pay for their operations. The bill increases tolls and RTA sales taxes and sweeps the road fund to pay for transit. Amusement taxes and large event taxes were deleted in the final version of the bill.
- Death Cult Expands in Illinois – SB1950 – Allows assisted suicide in Illinois. Read Laurie Higgins’ Quick Take article on the topic. Already a haven for abortion, Illinois will now be the travel destination for people who want to kill themselves. It’s no stretch of the imagination to see where this policy will lead: the exploitation of seniors by others for profit or convenience. If you didn’t like taxpayer-funded abortion, you’ll not like taxpayer-funded assisted suicide, which will surely happen.
- Protecting Criminal Illegals While Handcuffing ICE – Puts ICE agents at risk for frivolous lawsuits from protesters and creates a 1,000-foot no-go zone around courthouses for ICE. State Senator Chapin Rose remarked that it’s like giving criminals a 1,000-foot head start.
Democrats are very good at keeping things at a low boil so the frogs don’t jump out of the pan.
They sit in gerrymandered districts protected from electoral defeat and effectively sell ice to eskimos promising lower energy costs, humane death, compassion towards all, and expanded services for just a cup of coffee a day.
And apparently, enough Illinoisans buy into these ideas and vote them back into office. While the media covers these bills, most of the mainstream media fails to truly dig into the long-term impact of the legislation. For example, after supporting the Clean Energy Jobs Act (CEJA) in 2021, three years later the Chicago Tribune admitted that the naysayers at the time were right and that CEJA wasn’t working. But, the editorial board at the Tribune didn’t learn their lesson. Ahead of the energy bill that just passed the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act was promoted by the Chicago Tribune. I suspect that in three years, they will once again admit that the bill isn’t working and, in fact, has led to higher electric bills not lower ones as promised.
In fairness, in their article about the energy bill, the Trib did print State Rep Brad Halbrook’s comments writing,
“Republican state Rep. Brad Halbrook, a member of the conservative Freedom Caucus who represents Shelbyville, took it even further, calling the bill and previous attempts at energy legislation a “worship service at the altar of the dead green God.”
“We were promised clean energy would mean lower costs, more jobs and a stronger grid. They promised a climate salvation that doesn’t exist,” Halbrook said.”
This one comment does not really count as providing a fair assessment of the bill and what it does. It is a massive power grab by Governor JB Pritzker to take over every aspect of energy procurement in the state.
I wager right now that wind and solar in five years do not exceed 20% of our energy consumption in Illinois. And, by then, the Democrats will have found more excuses for why their grand plans failed.
Ideas and elections have consequences.
There is an easy way to solve this – vote the bums out of office. Change out the politicians, and you get different policies. To make that happen, it is everyone’s responsibility to let others in your network know who’s to blame for increased tolls, electric bills, taxes, and other horrendous policy decisions. Persuadable voters are out there. They need information about the policies and the politicians. If we all speak up together, we may be able to influence enough people to make a difference in the 2026 elections.
The majority of voters in Illinois are not as radical in their beliefs as the politicians they elect. They just are not that informed about the actual legislation passed, what the consequences are, and who is to blame. If that is not true, and Illinoisans actually want these policies in place and believe the nonsense talking points from Democrats, then it truly is time to leave the state and let it fall to the bottom. Unfortunately, the same people who voted for these politicians move out of the state, too, without realizing they created the mess they are leaving. Educating voters is a must. Allowing the entire system to collapse under the weight of decades of terrible decisions is too costly.

Local authorities arrested the driver, Edwin Pacheco-Meza, a 34-year-old illegal alien from Honduras and the passenger in the car, Juan Morales-Martinez, a 18-year-old illegal alien from Guatemala. Edwin Pacheco-Meza is charged with reckless homicide and driving under the influence. Juan Morales-Martinez is charged with drug possession and a weapons offense.
Following their arrests, ICE lodged a detainer with the Clark County Jail, which they ignored due to Illinois sanctuary policies. The jail did not cooperate with ICE due to sanctuary policies, and yet, despite this, our ICE officers waited for his release and arrested Morales-Martinez outside of the Clark County Jail on October 27.
“Two innocents were killed because this criminal illegal alien chose to drive under the influence,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
“President Trump and Secretary Noem have unleashed ICE and CBP in Illinois to restore law-and-order and remove criminal illegal aliens from our communities. Anyone who is in the U.S. illegally and thinks they can roam free while breaking our laws and harming Americans is in for a rude awakening. If you are in our country illegally and break our laws, we will find you, arrest you, remove you, and you will never return.”
Pacheco-Meza entered the country illegally at an unknown date and time.
Morales-Martinez entered the U.S. illegally in December of 2023 and was RELEASED by the Biden administration into our country.
Sanctuary policies pose a direct, ongoing threat to American citizens by releasing criminal illegal aliens back into our communities. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE are restoring law and order to the United States and will not be stopped by activist politicians or sanctuary policies.
