Leftists once condemned violence, warning that even silence was violence. They condemned silence because it was viewed as a manifestation of or complicity in acts of violence.
Leftists once revered Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who said, “Nonviolence is a powerful and just weapon, which cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it. It is a sword that heals,” and warned that “Constructive ends can never give absolute moral justification to destructive means, because in the final analysis the end is preexistent in the means.”
U. S. Representative and civil rights leader John Lewis described the desirable effect of nonviolence: “To use the strategy of nonviolence is to be able to look a person in the eye and see the spirit of the Creator.”
Mahatma Gandhi recommended nonviolence as the “greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man.”
That was then. This is now.
On Feb. 3, 2026, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a disturbing press release about attacks on ICE:
From January 21, 2025 – January 24, 2026, ICE law enforcement officers experienced 68 vehicular attacks against them, compared to only two during the same time period the previous year. This is a 3,300% increase in vehicular attacks against ICE law enforcement.
In a Jan. 2026 press release, DHS reported that “U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) law enforcement … now face a more than 1,300% increase in assaults,” which include being hit in the face with a metal cup and having a finger bitten off by a rabid young woman.
As young leftists increasingly advocate for the use of violence, defending it as a justifiable response to laws they don’t like—laws they claim harm people—they would do well to understand that conservatives view leftist beliefs, values, and actions as objectively wrong and harmful.
If everyone embraces the leftist position that violence is justifiable when citizens find abhorrent and harmful particular laws and/or the beliefs of fellow citizens, it won’t be just leftist anarchists committing acts of violence. Others similarly unprincipled will retaliate, justifying their violence on the same basis.
Principled conservatives too will enter the fray. They will not stand idly by as ignorant leftists with no source of morality outside the little gods they have made of themselves destroy everything that is good, and true, and beautiful.
Civil discourse, elections, and respect for the rule of law constitute the American way of maximizing freedom while maintaining public order. Abandoning civil discourse, honest elections, and respect for the rule of law will destroy both freedom and public order.
When will American citizens see that Democrat leadership, beliefs, policies, and values bring nothing but chaos, division, and destruction?
People raised in dysfunctional homes devoid of faith, fed a steady diet of leftist ideas, and inflamed by the demagogic rhetoric of malfeasant politicians are becoming savage beasts of prey that in packs attack strangers and law enforcement. They’ve lost the capacity and will to engage in rational civil discourse. Through their brutishness and witlessness they prove humans don’t evolve.
Someone better explain to the rough beasts who have been socially constructed in broken families and ivory tower laboratories and are now rampaging toward Gomorrah that lawless violence will be met with violence of either the lawful kind or lawless.
