Defund Universities Hellbent on Destroying America

There are increasing calls for stopping the flow of federal funds directly or indirectly to colleges and universities with bloated bureaucracies, huge endowments, and faculty committed to leftist propagandizing. Lawmakers should heed those calls and close the spigot to bigots and other assorted demagogues and miscreants who propagate anti-America hatred; anti-Semitism; anti-white, anti-male, and anti-heteronormativity bigotry; and absurd, dangerous anti-woman/anti-science superstitions about biological sex.

Let’s take a brief stroll around America’s taxpayer-funded hate laboratories where young Americans become lab rats trained to run the convoluted maze that ends in the destruction of America.

A month ago, Dartmouth College’s radical lesbian history professor Annelise Orleck (pictured above on the right with her “wife,” another Dartmouth professor), whose areas of interest include gay and lesbian studies, was arrested along with ninety students during a pro-terrorist campus protest.

Orleck, who describes herself on X as an “organizer and general troublemaker,” claims,

Those cops were brutal to me. I promise I did absolutely nothing wrong. I was standing with a line of women faculty in their 60s to 80s trying to protect our students.

She was there supposedly to protect the protestors from the police whom Orleck’s employer had called in to clear out.

I’m not sure what Orleck’s reason was for identifying the ages and sex of the faculty unless it’s to do what leftists do best: elicit sympathy. Helpless, little old ladies protecting innocent children from big bad policemen.

What I take from her tale of woe is that hale and hearty 20-year-olds probably don’t need the protection of elderly ladies.

She also exploited the contemporary incarnation of the twinkie defense. According to Orleck, she cried out to the police, “I can’t breathe.”  To make her account even more melodramatic, she claims “it did occur to me that I could die.” A waggish friend describes Orleck as the “reincarnation of Rosa Parks.”

My unsolicited recommendation is that Annelise Orleck and her “wife”/fellow Dartmouth professor Alexis Jetter retire. Take all the time she needs to recover from the trauma. Through her thirty-four years of indoctrinating Dartmouth students, she’s done enough damage.

The most recent information available online shows that Dartmouth has a $7.9 billion dollar endowment. According to Dartmouth’s annual report,

Dartmouth College relies heavily upon government sponsored research. In FY 2022, government awards totaled $130,062,078 (78% of total) compared to $34,933,795 (21% of total) in private funding.

The U.S. debt stands at $34+ trillion, Dartmouth has an $8 billion dollar endowment, and yet taxpayers are forced to pay Dartmouth $130 million annually. And for what? What exactly are taxpayers getting for their forced donation to an East Coast Ivy League school whose faculty members are actively supporting an anti-Semitic terrorist group that butchers and burns Israeli women and children and uses its own women and children as human shields while stealing humanitarian supplies.

Closer to home we find University of Chicago’s Eman Abdelhadi, socialist, labor organizer, and “queer Muslim,” who believes that “capitalism is at the root of pretty much all of our social ills and … plays a lot into all the oppressions that we face.”

She ironically described the administration’s response to the student protest in support of Hamas as terrorism:

The point of this raid was terror. They waited for those kids to fall asleep. And then they pulled the tents from under them while they were sleeping. Shame on the University of Chicago.

Poor sleepy revolutionaries. It’s so hard to fulfill Abdelhadi’s revolutionary fever dreams without a solid eight hours cradled in the arms of Morpheus—dreams that Abdelhadi described on the social justice news website Truthout:

The encampment was not only a triumph of revolutionary thinking, it was also a triumph of revolutionary practice. In a reactionary present whose days are clearly numbered, each encampment was a practice run for a revolutionary future. Every time we seize a space in this world and decide to run it for ourselves, decide to feed ourselves, to shelter ourselves, to keep each other safe — we beckon to a revolutionary horizon.

The University of Chicago has a $10.3 billion endowment and yet receives $754 million in federal dollars. One particularly noteworthy project is titled “Advancing Health Toward Health Equity Throughout Metropolitan Chicago,” which runs from 2017 till 2027 and through the National Institutes of Health will receive $50 million of taxpayer money.

This project is a “bold guiding vision for … reversing the adverse health consequences of structural racism” which “requires accounting for and mitigating the social, environmental, behavioral, and psychological factors (the entire lived experience, which we will call the “sociome”) through which structural racism impairs health.”

Fifty million dollars taken for taxpayers to mitigate the purported “structural racism” that corrupts the “sociome.” Is that the Founding Fathers’ vision for the role of federal government?

Back East we go to the notorious Columbia University that has a mind-blowing $13.64 billion endowment and yet receives $1.21 billion in government largesse plucked from the pockets of hardworking Americans.

For their unwitting generosity, Americans help pay the salary of Columbia University visiting professor Dr. Mohamed Abdou,

a North African-Egyptian Muslim anarchist interdisciplinary activist-scholar of Indigenous, Black, critical race, and Islamic studies, as well as gender, sexuality, abolition, and decolonization. … He has taught (under) graduate courses on Settler-colonialism, Abolition, Anti-Colonialism, and Anti-Imperialism, Intimacy, Family & Kinships, North African, Islamic, BIPOC, queer-feminist, and radical newest social movements.

According to an proud announcement from Columbia’s Center for the Study of Muslim Societies,

[Abdou’s] scholarship and writings have appeared in the Journals of Political Theology, Settler-colonial, Anarchist Development in Cultural Studies, Al-Raida as well as Feral Feminisms and Roar Magazine. He wrote his transnational ethnographic and historical-archival PhD dissertation on Islam & Queer-Muslims: Identity & Sexuality in the Contemporary.

Both descriptions constitute a mouthful of CRT-infused jargon that makes clear the nature of the propaganda anarchist Abdou disseminates—propaganda that carries dangerous implications.

In Dec. 2023, Abdou wrote in Al Jazeera,

Muslims and South Asian, North African and Arab immigrant settlers must interrogate the legitimacy of America’s and Canada’s right to exist. … That is why we immigrants in the US and Canada must seriously re-examine our ethical-political commitments when it comes to … forming alliances with Indigenous and Black peoples in their demands for Indigenous land rematriation as well as Black reparations.

In that same piece, he condemned America for a host of alleged ideological crimes:

A significant number of migrant Muslims do not seem to comprehend that American societies are animated by white supremacist religious doctrines such as manifest destiny and doctrines of discovery and terra nullius, Protestant ethics, common law property rights, and Victorian notions of gender and sexuality.

Following Hamas’ savage assault on Israeli civilians on Oct. 7, Abdou’s support for terrorists and anarchism became more widely known, and Columbia’s president, Minouche Shafik, came under fire at a U.S. House Education Committee hearing during which Shafik falsely claimed that Abdou had already been fired. It’s now five and a half weeks later, and Abdou still has not been fired.

We the people subsidize Abdou’s, Abdelhadi’s, and Orleck’s anarchist efforts to transmogrify America into something culturally and politically monstrous. Even if the U.S. were not drowning in debt, taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize anti-American propaganda. If parents and donors think degrees from schools like the University of Chicago, Columbia, and other Ivies are essential to the welfare of America, let them fund them.
