We’re seeing the inevitable consequences of idiotic and/or iniquitous leftist principles, policies, and practices as, for example, Biden’s campaign implodes, DEI offices in corporations and on college campuses shutter, and the National Education Association self-immolates.
The welcome and well-deserved immolation of the NEA, the nation’s largest labor union, which started some time ago as membership began dropping, burst onto the public scene more dramatically recently.
The NEA has an administrative staff of about 350 people represented by the National Education Association Staff Organization (NEASO), charged with holding down the fort in Washington D.C. and planning major events like the recent four-day Representative Assembly.
During the assembly, held this year in Philadelphia, the NEASO took a page out of the NEA’s playbook and went on strike. The oft-unhinged NEA President Becky Pringle didn’t much fancy such insubordination and decided to employ union-busting tactics.
The NEASO is upset over “wages, health coverage and worker safety,” “‘paltry concession offerings’ at the bargaining table,” “working conditions (including denying holiday pay),” and “its practice of using outside contractors for union-related work.”
In response to the strike, Pringle’s minions played hardball:
[T]he striking workers found themselves stranded when the NEA made the decision to cancel their hotel rooms and return flights home from the convention, and cut off access to their work emails and phones mid-trip. … [T]hey’ll be barred from working—and will not be paid—until the union and NEA management reach an agreement.
It’s not wise to cross Becky Pringle. Haven’t those NEASO members seen her in action? Watch this one minute of Pringle screeching (juxtaposed with her apparent inspiration, Dwight Schrute):
But she said much more in her unhinged screed. She revealed that the NEA is not an educational organization committed to diversity of ideas. It’s an arm of the Democrat Party that seeks to exploit public education to advance leftist beliefs and policies:
We worked hard to rid ourselves of a tyrannical, deceitful, and corrupt White House, but the reality is that the seeds that were sown during that horrible season continue to germinate.
Today, they sprout as vitriol toward our profession; increased marginalization of Black, brown, AAPI, and Indigenous communities; rising hatred toward our LGBTQ+ siblings.
The seeds of hate manifest themselves as attacks against our freedom to teach; [sic]
our students’ freedom to learn.
They’ve mushroomed into the poisonous spores of a stacked Supreme Court—one that continues to render decisions that attack, diminish, and disregard the needs and lived experiences of far too many Americans.
And now, the same court gave corporations the power to attack the critical services Americans have relied on for generations and laid the foundation to give Donald Trump immunity for his crimes against Americans and America.
…
With determination and defiance, we will protect public education.
We will fight privatization, vouchers, and any other scheme to drain resources from our public schools.
…
We must elect both a Senate and a House that will work with our president to advance student loan forgiveness; that will enhance the rights our LGBTQ+ community; that will protect a woman’s right to make decisions about her own body!
…
That is why we will organize for power.
…
Like [sexual abuser of teen boys] Harvey Milk, we will stand in our authenticity.
Like Cesar Chavez, we will practice relentless activism.
Remember, Illinoisans, the Illinois Education Association, which has 135,000 members, is an affiliate of the NEA. If your kids are in government schools in Illinois, they are—according to Becky Pringle’s nefarious plan—being indoctrinated using your money.
The NEA has principles, and those principles are pernicious, undermining the well-being of students, the rights of parents, decency, and the public good. The NEA is animated by a commonplace, ignoble lust for power—the same quest that animates Joe Biden and his babysitter Jill, the race grifters behind the DEI industrial complex, and the Democrat Party. It’s what impels leftists to police speech, censor news stories, engage in lawfare against political opponents, and ban books in schools that depict ideas they detest. Power, baby, it’s all about power.
