Governor Pritzker’s Fake Bravado

In response to President Trump’s victory on Tuesday, Pritzker went to the podium to reassure Illinoisans that “To anyone who intends to come take away the freedom and opportunity and dignity of Illinoisans, I would remind you that a happy warrior is still a warrior…You come for my people, you come through me.”

Good grief.  Pritzker talking tough as some sort of reincarnation of General Patton or Will Kane in High Noon is laughable. In fact the term warrior and Pritzker should never be used in the same sentence, it is personally offensive to those of us who have actually served in uniform and I am betting that his cousin Col. Pritzker would likely agree with me on that one. It is always non-warriors who call themselves such, by the way.

Besides the fake bravado, the statement is unnecessary. While the rest of the country made a shift to sanity on illegal immigration, cultural issues, green energy and a host of other issues, nothing changed in Illinois. Expect Pritzker to double down on bad policy and spend more money doing so.

Pritzker also said, ““Chaos, retribution and disarray radiated from the White House the last time Donald Trump occupied it.” Who is he kidding? Obama put in the plan to spy on the incoming administration, had his intell officers set-up Gen. Mike Flynn, leading to his ouster as national security director, and Biden weaponized the DOJ against Trump and his allies in numerous egregious ways.

Meanwhile in Illinois, Pritzker went after Pro-life pregnancy centers by trying to make them refer for abortion, went after businesses that stayed open during the fake COVID scare, and spent money in political races down to the school board level to make sure no one got elected who would stand up to the teacher unions.

Pritzker and his allies are so insulated from regular Americans, that they will likely continue to show anger and disbelief that anyone voted for Trump – but they did – and they should put on their big boy pants and accept it. Not to mention that many of Pritzker’s policies are not in jeopardy in Illinois.

Illinois will continue to be a mecca for abortion – Pritzker’s number one issue.

Illinois schools will continue to indoctrinate very young students in radical soul-crushing sexual ideology.

Illinois will continue to pander to unions, and in fact, will likely put taxpayers on the hook for billions more in unfunded pension liability by changing Tier II to Tier I benefits.

Illinois will continue to be one of the most corrupt states in America even as Madigan is likely convicted and sentenced to jail. It is looking worse for him after the most recent testimony.

And actually, with regards to freedom, in contrast to Pritzker’s concerns, Illinoisans will find themselves more free –  to chose the car they want, build a business with less regulation, and have more money in their pocket to spend as they like.

What Pritzker needs to be most concerned about is how much better other states will look to people and businesses under a Trump administration. The contrast will be overwhelming and will accelerate outmigration.  Pritzker’s future budgets are difficult and raising taxes won’t help.

Bottomline, Pritzker could have issued a conciliatory statement and one of unity. He didn’t and Illinois, as Greg Hinz noted, has no power players at the federal level now. Instead, Pritzker proved he is the rich fat bully of politics, a position that doesn’t serve anyone in Illinois.
