QUICK HIT: Follow-Up On Tuesday’s Quick Hit

Tuesday, we zeroed in on the plethora of local referendums that will be put to the voters across the state of Illinois in this midterm election. The bottom line is that these ‘referendums’ usually don’t get much attention, so they sneak through with very little possibility of being retracted or overturned in the future.

This is an intentional strategy orchestrated by greedy players who feed off the taxpayers’ dime.

Now, Illinois’ arm of Americans For Prosperity (a libertarian conservative political advocacy group) is calling out those players. They are asking Attorney General Kwame Raoul and four county state’s attorneys to investigate whether 24 local taxing bodies used taxpayer resources to campaign for more taxpayer money. Up until now, Raoul has been completely publicly silent on this issue and absolutely refuses to get engaged where local governments are clearly breaking the law.
