Reading a bill sponsored by Illinois’ worst lawmaker, lesbian Kelly Cassidy, reminded me of this viral meme:

With a super-majority in both the Illinois House and Senate, Democrats run the state and the city of Chicago, and by “run,” I mean run it into the proverbial ground.
While Pritzker demands millions more dollars to subsidize illegal immigrants whom Democrats invited to sanctuary city Chicago; while extravagant public sector pension funds suck money out of the empty pockets of Illinoisans; while property tax increases, lousy CTU-ruined schools, and crime drive hardworking families to places hither and yon, Kelly Cassidy knows just what the state needs.
Cassidy believes that Illinois needs a law (HB 4409) that boosts the self-esteem of convicted criminals. Like all good leftists, Cassidy believes the means to her ends begins with manipulating language. Her bill, which just passed both houses, changes the word “offender” to “justice-impacted individual” in Section 20 of the Illinois Crime Reduction Act of 2009. Cassidy doesn’t believe it’s “appropriate” to refer to convicted criminals who may return to society as “offenders.”
Remember that next time a leftist uses the word “appropriate,” as when leftists say obscene books are “appropriate” for minors in public schools.
This tenderhearted Cassidy is the termagant who fought for the legal right of minor girls to have their offspring destroyed without parental notification up until the baby’s birth day.
Cassidy believes using the term “justice-impacted individual”—which could refer to almost anyone from a criminal to a criminal’s family to a victim to a victim’s loved ones—is a far superior term. In her view, it’s worth spending, according to State Senator Terri Bryant, “thousands of dollars” to make those changes in all necessary documents.
This is yet more evidence of how cavalier leftists are when spending public money, especially on their pet ideological projects.
Some dismiss this change as unimportant because it applies only to one section of one law. But if Cassidy believes referring to convicted criminals as “offenders” is inappropriate in this one section, why doesn’t she believe it’s inappropriate everywhere in every law?
By now, Republicans should know that Democrats are both patient and cunning. Their modus operandi is incrementalism. Like a predator, Cassidy is willing to wait to unsheathe her claws and pounce. Kill babies, coddle criminals, and make taxpayers pay the price for both.
No wonder Illinoisans are hightailing it out of Chicago and the state. Until Democrats lose power, Illinois will continue to lose taxpayers.
According to the state comptroller’s site, Cassidy was paid $98,500 in 2023. And what did taxpayers get for their money? When Chicagoans elected (reelected, reelected, reelected ad nauseum) Cassidy, they traded their hard-earned money for a mess of casu marzu, and all Illinoisans suffer.
