As Chicago reels from a violent Labor Day weekend—10 killed and 50 wounded—Governor Pritzker and Mayor Johnson continue to demand more federal money instead of real solutions. Johnson dismissed the idea of stronger enforcement, posting “If the federal government wants to help, they should invest, not invade,” while his city already received over $100 million in “violence prevention” grants last year and millions more in 2025.
