John Deere Laying Off Workers, Moving Production to Mexico
FOX 32 reported the news that 610 workers will lose their jobs at plants in Iowa and Illinois due to slower demand. Earlier this month Deere announced that some of its current production in Iowa will move to Mexico.
I bet if Pritzker gave them $827 million in tax incentives like he did Rivian or even $537 million like CCP-controlled Gotion got, they might have expanded in Illinois rather than shrinking or moving production to Mexico.
Maybe if the tractors were electric, they would get favorable incentives from the Big Guy.
Despite all of his political hot air, ILLINOIS’ ECONOMY IS SUFFERING.
Illinois is tied for the 3rd worst unemployment rate in the country as of May 2024 (according to new data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). It continues to exceed the national average of 4% and is higher than ALL neighboring states.
Governor Pritzker and his Democratic supermajority refuse to address the underlying causes: fiscal irresponsibility, regulatory burdens, and suffocating taxes (just to name a few).

Adding to the problem is a steep decline in Illinois’ labor force. Illinois Policy Institute explains here:

Democrats elected DuPage County Auditor Bill White in 2020, not because he was qualified, but because he had a “D” after his name. In fact, Bill White has zero qualifications for the $160,000 job.
His fellow Democrats, Jean Kaczmarek, the DuPage County Clerk, and Kathleen Carrier, the DuPage County Recorder of Deeds, are equally unqualified but were elected only because they are Democrats.
But these positions are not figurehead positions. They actually have important duties. In the case of Bill White, it is scrutinizing how our money is spent at the county and whether or not all laws were followed when doing so. The auditor also looks into other procedural areas to make sure things are done correctly.
Bill White, though, hasn’t filed any state-mandated reports for nearly four years –
He’s just collected a massive salary and benefits without doing his primary job. Taxpayers should be furious. And the fact that no one said anything until now—like DuPage County chairwoman Deb Conroy—shows that she isn’t doing her job either.

For nearly four years, the DuPage County Auditor’s Office has not complied with the state law that mandates it submit a quarterly financial report detailing the county government’s revenues, appropriations, expenditures and encumbrances.
The reports came to a halt shortly after Bill White was elected auditor by a razor thin margin in 2020, ousting Republican incumbent Bob Grogan by just 58 votes.
Not long after the election, several key staff members from the auditor’s office resigned
