Top Illinois Stories of 2024

Here are some of my top stories in Illinois, not necessarily in order. Chosen for their impact in 2024 or their potential impact on future policy.

1. Congressional Report says Gotion uses Slave Labor.  Read HERE. Pritzker’s subsidies for the CCP-backed company are immoral in light of this report. At some point, he and his party will have to answer for subsidizing our number one adversary and a human rights abuser.

2. Rivian hasn’t turned a profit and gets a $827 million tax subsidy from IL. Read HERE. Considering the budget crunch expected in 2025, this giveaway to an unprofitable start-up company should be a cudgel for Republicans to use against Democrats who will want to increase taxes again.

3. South Suburbs face huge property tax increases. Read HERE. The south suburbs will likely become the impetus for serious property tax reform if the citizens can properly organize for it. They have a huge case to make on our unfair system.

4. Chicago hosts DNC, complete with a mobile abortion/vasectomy clinic. Read HERE. Democrats thought this open display of progressivism would sell, but likely, it contributed to the downfall of Harris as it represented instead the radical, in-your-face cultural positions of Harris and her party.

5. Illinois passes largest budget in history, funds illegals, raises taxes. Read HERE. Unbelievably, some Democrats voted against the budget. Could this be the high-water mark for a few years, as they are expecting a deficit in 2025 of over $3 billion?

6. CPS/CTU/Mayor Johnson versus everyone else. Read a recent story on the fight HERE. This fight is far from over. Johnson’s new CPS board, along with his former employer, are looking to fleece taxpayers, and they know it. After attempting to oust the current CPS Board President, a decision now in the court’s hands, Johnson looks even more inept and his entire agenda is in tatters.

7. Illinois spends big on illegal immigrants. Read HERE.

8. Pritzker vows to defy Trump policies. Read HERE. My bets are on Trump and Homan to deport whomever they want and on Pritzker to bow to the federal money he desperately needs.

9. Pritzker calls for Illinois to be a haven for transgender policies. Read HERE.  He is supporting a lie that is unraveling at a very rapid pace. Using taxpayer money to support any transition procedure on minors will put taxpayers on the hook for lawsuits that will eventually be filed by minors who transitioned without the ability to make these life-altering decisions as a minor. School districts that hide transitioning from parents or who facilitated it with parental knowledge will likely be sued as well. I expect massive lawsuits in the future over these policies that radical superintendents, medical professionals, and politicians shamefully supported.

10. Illinois students still lag behind pre-COVID scores. While there was improvement in reading scores, math proficiency scores are still not where they need to be four years after COVID and SAT scores are down too. Read HERE and HERE. The more parents know about how public schools are failing most children, the more they will demand reform – we hope.
