The Farcical, Frivolous Nobel Peace Prize

Barack Obama, arguably one of America’s worst presidents, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize somewhere between nine and eleven days after his presidency began. He had accomplished nothing—literally nothing—with regard to “fraternity between nations.” His singular accomplishment was demonstrating he had an oily, serpentine tongue. When Obama won the prize nine months later, the Nobel Peace Prize Committee said he won it “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.” What they didn’t say was what exactly the extraordinary efforts he had advanced in his first nine days were.

Germany’s then-Chancellor Angela Merkel was elated because Obama “set a new tone throughout the world” which would “create a readiness for dialogue.” Tone-setting and dialogue readiness—in other words, empty rhetoric—matter more to leftists than do conflict-ending, hostage-returning, and peace agreements through carrots and the unrelenting wielding of big sticks.

And so, the unaccomplished 48-year-old honey-tongued community activist who was practiced in the art of the Chicago Way slithered into the Oval Office and won a once-prestigious award for being honey-tongued.

Meanwhile, President Trump has now secured a historic peace agreement between Israel and the Islamic terrorist group Hamas, that included the return of all Israeli hostages held for 737 days.

In order to achieve this momentous agreement, Trump had to first get reelected, a feat no ordinary man could have achieved given the almost insuperable obstacles leftists socially and politically constructed using every sordid trick their devious minds could conceive.

Their grubby antics are by now well-known to most Americans, so no need to list them again. But just as Democrats are desperately hoping Americans will forget grubby Democrat machinations by the mid-terms, Republicans better make sure the frightening lengths Democrats have proven they will go to in order to acquire, grow, and wield their ill-gotten power are never forgotten.

But Trump did not win the Nobel Peace Prize, which sends a thrill up the legs of leftists everywhere who hate Trump for succeeding in systematically torpedoing all the projects and policies with which leftists have spent half a century poisoning the American landscape. Name the poisonous ideology, policy, or project of leftists, and Trump has put it in his sights.

And for that, leftists’ rainbow-colored hair is on fire. They will never admit the harm they have done, the lies they have told, the coverups they have engaged in, or the ineptitude with which they have governed.

Instead of having the humility to admit the Trump-brokered Gaza peace plan is both a historic and a humanitarian victory, leftists are trying to besmirch Trump by focusing on his desire for the Nobel Peace Prize as if that’s some sort of leadership failure.

Was Winston Churchhill’s desire for the Nobel Peace Prize unseemly? What about Al Gore’s active campaigning for it?

Just read the venom dripping from the virtual pen of the Nation’s Jeet Heer:

Donald Trump’s narcissism is truly a force of nature—a black hole that consumes everything around it and can never be filled. His neediness is insatiable: no amount of groveling praise can ever be effusive enough, no defeat of his political enemies total enough, and no worldly achievement can ever allow him a moment of satisfaction. Now, having twice won the presidency, Trump set his eyes on a new prize, one all the more desirable because, like the title of commander in chief, it was also once held by Barack Obama: the Nobel Peace Prize.

Heer would have the nation believe that Trump’s ambition and ego are unique among political figures. No narcissism from Barack Obama, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, AOC, or Adam Schiff. None at all. They’re just pictures of humility and selflessness.

No word of appreciation from Heer on the end of what leftists deceitfully call a “genocide.” No gratitude for Trump’s tireless efforts to work with Prime Minister Netanyahu and the leaders of diverse countries in the Middle East to end the war that Hamas started two years ago.

Only vitriol from Heer about “Trump’s America First rhetoric.” Can’t have that, not even in America.

Some would argue that in light of the dirty tricks used against Trump, the likes of which Richard Nixon could only dream, Trump exercises remarkable restraint in seeking to defeat political enemies. Some would argue that justice would involve a scorched earth.

The secretive Nobel Peace Prize Committee composed of five people—a committee that refuses to reveal who nominates candidates or how the committee votes until fifty years have passed and all interested parties are dead—has reaffirmed the vacuity of the once-esteemed award.

But it’s okay. All across the globe, people know who deserved the prize, and they can see that the emperors and empresses on the committee are sashaying around Norway buck naked.
