Thankless, Bitter Immigrant Hopes ICE Supporters “Go to Hell”

Social media is good for at least one thing: learning more about the snotty, thankless, condescending, leftist immigrants who are ruining America. To be clear, not all immigrants are snotty, thankless, condescending, or leftist. I know many who are humble, kind, conservative, and deeply thankful for the opportunities and freedom America offers and for the generosity of Americans. My grandfather was one of them. The young woman whose social media post I am sharing here is definitely not one of the good ones.

Montserrat (Montse) Lewin Mejia, a “dreamer,” was brought to America by her Mexican immigrant parents. She majored in Applied Engineering Sciences at Michigan State University, graduating in May 2021, but  found her calling in “content creation.” She is now married to Spencer Libbing and appears to spend most of her time trying on clothes, taking selfies, buying clothes, and attending Coachella. But nine months ago, she managed to find time to make a bitter video in which she expresses her loathing for the country and for Americans.

Brace yourselves, maybe grab a glass of wine, a box of chocolates, and a stress ball. Here’s what the Kardashian-wannabe said:

Let me hold your hand when I say this. We do not move to America because we think it’s a better country. We move here because it’s a little less worse than are other countries. … you’re stupid to think that we move to this country for some hot dogs and some baseball. We have better vibes, music, food, culture, history, literally all of the above. We just move here because we are looking to make more money and offer a better chance for our families. … Did you know that the minimum wage, a day, not an hour, a day in Mexico, is not even 15 American dollars? Not even 15 American dollars. Right now with $15 in San Diego, I could go maybe buy a matcha and half of a granola bar, honey. If you support ICE, you support people getting destroyed. If you support families getting destroyed, I hope you rot in hell. And I will see you there, babes, for sure.

To be clear, a country that is “a little less worse” is, in reality, better. And judging from her Instagram account, America has been way better to Mejia than Mexico probably would have been.

I’ve never met an American who thinks immigrants come to America for hot dogs and baseball, so methinks Mejia may just have exposed herself as the “stupid” person.

Countless Americans know exactly why immigrants—including their parents and grandparents—have come to America. They come for religious freedom. They come for the right to speak and assemble freely. They come for the right to elect their leaders. They come for a free press. And they come for economic opportunity.

I don’t know what criteria Mejia uses to determine which country has the “best history,” but America has a remarkable history, having become the strongest, most diverse, most financially successful, most charitable, and most free nation the world has ever seen and accomplished that in a relatively short period of time.

Along the way, the creativity of Americans was unleashed. While Mejia finds Mexican music superior, people all around the world enjoy Blues, Jazz, Gospel, Bluegrass, Folk, Country, and Rock music—though maybe without the fiercely competitive sensibility that possesses the culturally chauvinistic Mejia.

Her one minute video drips with condescension from the opening salvo, “Let me hold your hand,” to the sarcastic use of terms of endearment “honey” and “babes,” to her talon-accoutered “bird hands” which poke and peck continuously throughout her tirade.

In attacking ICE, she reveals her rejection of the American belief that we are a nation of laws rather than a lawless country like the one she and her parents fled.

For someone who studied engineering, she sure struggles with logic. Supporting ICE agents who are charged with rounding up border scofflaws does not constitute support for the destruction of families. Every mother and father who is deported because they are in this country illegally is free to take their dependents back home with them.

Every country on the planet has immigration laws that are enforced. What does Mejia think about the legal right of law enforcement agents in France, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands to stop anyone for “suspicion-less” checks in transit hubs, near borders, and in other public spaces and demand to see their IDs? Does she hope all French, German, Spanish, and Dutch citizens who support such policies “go to hell”?

Imagine what leftists would say if an American moved overseas and spoke about their adopted country and adopted fellow countrymen and women with the vitriol that Mejia talks about America, our laws, and our legal citizens.

Now that Mejia has clearly achieved her sole goal of coming to America—that is, to make buckets of ducats—maybe she could go back to Mexico, the country with better vibes, music, food, culture, and history.
