Another callous attack on girls’ rights, privacy, and safety is taking place at Illinois District 211’s Conant High School, which serves students in Schaumburg, Elk Grove Village, Roselle, and Hoffman Estates.
An incoming freshman boy with no volleyball experience made the freshman girls team, beating out forty-five girls. The fact that he is reportedly 6’4” tall may have a wee bit to do with his wild success. Oh, and then there’s the district’s likely fear that his parents will sue the district if their short-shorts, crop-top-wearing willowy son doesn’t get exactly what he wants. And what he wants is to force all the world—and especially all the girls at Conant—to pretend along with him that he is a girl.
He uses girls’ restrooms, forcing girls to do their business in stalls next to a male peer doing his. For P.E. and volleyball practice, he uses the girls’ locker room, forcing girls to hide when they change and forcing them to see him in his girls’ lingerie.
And this boy puts at risk every girl against whom he plays.
D211 administrators, school board members, and parents should read the story of Payton McNabb. Her senior year in high school, she was knocked unconscious by a volleyball spiked by a crossdressing boy. McNabb suffered a “concussion, brain bleed, black eyes, and neck damage” that left her with “impaired vision, partial paralysis, headaches, depression, and difficulty learning.”
Even if the boy at the center of the Conant controversy didn’t have the obvious male physical advantages that he clearly does, the injustice of sexually integrating girls spaces would remain.
Either biological sex has meaning relative to privacy in spaces where bodies are exposed and in which intimate bodily processes are engaged, or it doesn’t.
If biological sex has no meaning, then there should be no sex-separated private spaces anywhere for anyone. Let all the school board members, administrators, and faculty share locker rooms, bathrooms, and even showers with their opposite-sex colleagues. Let the adult role models in D211 be the first to demonstrate how meaningless sexual anatomy is.
If, however, biological sex has meaning and is the reason for sex-separated private spaces, then it should be honored by everyone, including people who detest their sex and try to conceal it.
Successfully concealing one’s sex through clothing, makeup, hairstyles, hormone-doping, and surgery doesn’t make the offense against the privacy rights of persons of the opposite sex any less grievous. The efficacy of an elaborate disguise does not justify the violation of another person’s rights.
Someone who suffers from Body Integrity Identity Disorder, identifies as an amputee, and uses a wheelchair in the service of his delusion has no moral right to use parking spaces designated for those with handicaps. Those who permit him to use those parking spaces are neither compassionate nor just.
The beloved coach of the girls and boys volleyball teams, Drewann (Pancratz) Reibel, has resigned from just the girls team after a decade of coaching them. The import of her resignation is lost on those who aren’t aware of the Pancratz coaching legacy. Both Drewann and her mother Jeanette have been coaching at Chicago area high schools for years, as has Drewann’s husband Bobby Reibel and his family.
Community members are wondering if she objected to forcing girls to compete against and share a locker rooms with a boy. They’re wondering if she were pressured in any way to do what no decent coach would do.
It’s neither compassionate, respectful, just, nor rational to affirm the lie that subjective, internal feelings about one’s maleness as opposed to one’s biological sex should determine which bathrooms and locker rooms humans use or sports teams they may join.
It’s neither compassionate, respectful, just, nor rational to tell girls that if they don’t want to undress, shower, or go to the bathroom in the presence of male peers, they should use special private spaces created by ignorant and cruel school leaders. Girls’ restrooms, locker rooms, and showers are the girls’ special private spaces.
The towering, willowy boy has available to him both the boys’ spaces or the special private spaces for teens who wish they were the sex they are not and never can be.
Those adult men and women—school administrators, board members, faculty, and parents—who are participating in this “trans” deception are either wicked, ignorant, or cowardly. What they are decidedly not is compassionate, respectful, just, or rational.
They are teaching girls that adults will not protect their safety or rights. Adults will not protect their modesty, their safety, their privacy, or their hard won athletic rights.
They are teaching girls and boys that biological sex has no objective meaning worthy of honor, respect, and defense.
They are teaching girls and boys that they—the adults in the room—will sell out even the most fundamental truths.
The fear of being called mean names and losing money has exposed how astonishingly unprincipled and spineless school leaders are. They’re moral ciphers posing as role models.
Does anyone believe men and women who go along with the “trans” superstition, who are willing to sexually integrate children’s locker rooms, bathrooms, sports, and single-sex scouting clubs would have had the backbone to oppose Jim Crow laws or slavery?
District 211 leaders who support this superstition have no respect for the meaning of biological sex, for science, for children, or for conservative people of faith, like the Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox, Jews, and Muslims in their community.
Unfortunately for those who are ardent supporters of women’s rights and safety, D211 has a notoriously ignorant and ideologically biased school board that includes one of the worst school board members in the state: the infamous Kim Cavill about whom I’ve written multiple times.
Cavill is the creepy sex podcaster who colluded with her sister just two weeks before the 2017 school board election to create a Super PAC through which they laundered money from another Super PAC, “Trans United Fund Illinois.” The money came from crossdressing men and out-of-district homosexuals to defeat an exceptional slate of school board candidates. Both PACS dissolved right after the election. And this is the woman who is making decisions for D211 students.
But Cavill and the other leftists on the board may have met their match in President Trump who issued an Executive Order (EO) on Jan. 29, 2025, titled “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling,” which states that federal funds will be withheld from any school that facilitates “the social transition of a minor student.” The EO then defines “social transition”:
“Social transition” means the process of adopting a “gender identity” or “gender marker” that differs from a person’s sex. This process can include psychological or psychiatric counseling or treatment by a school counselor or other provider; modifying a person’s … pronouns (e.g., “him” to “her”); calling a child “nonbinary”; use of intimate facilities and accommodations such as bathrooms or locker rooms specifically designated for persons of the opposite sex; and participating in school athletic competitions or other extracurricular activities specifically designated for persons of the opposite sex. (emphasis added)
Let’s hope and pray that parents will file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights. And let’s hope and pray that parents of girls who were cut from the team and parents of those who made the team sue the short-shorts off the district.
