Bills In Springfield To Watch
This week brought another clash between the Trump movement and the Democrat party. The Presidential Address to Congress on Tuesday night was a spectacle, courtesy of certain Democrats.
They came loaded for bear. Some walked out, one got thrown out, and many held up paddles saying “False” and other things; nearly all of them sat in silence when young Americans were praised for coming through difficult personal trials, many caused by terrible public policies like illegal immigration or letting men play on women’s teams.

Here are just some of the stupid and/or pandering, not fully thought-through bills filed the first week of the new 104th General Assembly.

In Illinois, You Are Taxed On A Tax – Gas Tax
There are lots of news stories about Illinois’ gas tax going up on July 1st to 47 cents a gallon from its current tax of 45.4 cents per gallon. The tax that is increasing is the Illinois Part A tax. Part B tax changes at the first of the year and is calculated by multiplying the average cost of gas per gallon in Illinois in the previous year by 6.25%. The federal tax has been unchanged for decades and is 18.4 cents per gallon.

IL Rep. Terra Costa Howard–Ignorant and Arrogant
Condescending Illinois State Representative Terra Costa Howard insults Illinoisans by her refusal to define the term “opposite sex” in her own bill.

Are You Ready For a Property Tax Revolt?
I have to admit that I find it a bit amusing to hear all the bellyaching from some people in Cook County that are opening up their property tax bills and facing sticker shock. There’s one easy solution, but No One in Springfield cares enough to do anything about it.

Illinois’ Lawmaker Plan for Minors
Illinois’ worst lawmaker, lesbian State Representative Kelly Cassidy, is at it again. And by “it,” I mean, obsessively creating and sponsoring legislation that reflects and promotes her deviant views of sexuality and family. I doubt Cassidy could craft legislation that contributes to the public good if her life depended on it.

Springfield Climate Alarmists Set Their Sights on High School Curricula
Apparently, Springfield Democrats aren’t satisfied with indoctrinating Illinois school children with leftist ideas about sexuality, cross-sex impersonation, race, and “misinformation.” They’ve hatched a new plan for mainlining propaganda into other people’s children using public money, this time via a school code amendment. But this is no lefty slacker amendment. Oh, no, this is the kind of go-for-broke, enviro-activist amendment that would bring a smile to Greta Thunberg’s gwumpy face.

IL Lawmakers Open Leftist Floodgates
Illinoisans, you better sit down before reading further.
On Jan. 1, 2024, a new law anti-socially constructed by Illinois’ worst lawmaker, lesbian Kelly Cassidy, took effect with some unfortunate assistance from Illinois House Republicans not one of whom voted against it.
The law, euphemistically titled the “Civil Rights Remedies Restoration Act” (HB 2248), will open the floodgates of lawsuits from allegedly wronged leftists. The law states the following:
Whoever injures another by a violation of this act is liable for each and every offense for all remedies available at law,

Springfield Law Enables Schools to Assess Student Mental Health
Presumptuous Springfield lefties can’t seem to keep their grimy little mitts off of other people’s children. They sponsored and passed a partisan law (HB 4343)—which is to say, no Republicans co-sponsored or voted for it—blandly titled the “Wellness Checks in Schools Program Act.” According to the bill’s chief sponsor, State Rep. Greg Harris, this law “creates [a] mental health wellbeing program for grades 7-12 in schools.” Sounds benign enough. After all, who opposes adolescent “mental health wellbeing”?
The devil, as usual, may be found lurking in details and definitions socially constructed and hidden by Democrats.
