Illinois Taxes Headed Up
“Next month, the state’s gas tax will increase by 6.2 cents to a total tax of 45.4 cents, the second increase since Jan. 1. The state’s tax on groceries will also go back into effect after Gov. J.B. Pritzker put a hold on the tax during last year’s election cycle.”
The expiration of the one-year sales tax holiday for groceries will generate $400 million more for the state to waste. The expiration of the holiday on back-to-school items will bring in another $30 million.

composting humans: HB 3158, titled the “Natural Organic Reduction Regulation Act.” How very sterile and deceptive a title for her unseemly bill. Her repugnant bill will, of course, profit the state that will be selling licenses to turn humans into something Cassidy thinks is useful. -

Under the guise of stopping “doxing,” Illinois lawmakers unanimously passed the “Civil Liabilities for Doxing Act” (HB 2954). But HB 2954 is not just—or even centrally—about doxing. It’s about using the law to undermine First Amendment speech protections.

Activists’ Lousy Arguments
Our titular president, Joe Biden, made headlines for saying the quiet part out loud two years in a row. At the 2022 National and State Teachers of the Year Celebration, he said, “We always talk about “these children.” They’re not someone else’s children. They’re our children. … You’ve heard me say it many times about “our children,” but it’s true: They’re all our children. … They’re not somebody else’s children; they’re like yours when they’re in the classroom. He repeated this false claim again at this year’s Teachers of the Year Celebration.

There is really no bigger story than the revelation that former Obama deputy director of the CIA and interim acting director of the CIA twice, Michael Morell, did the bidding of Antony Blinken, then senior campaign staffer on the Biden campaign, by organizing the letter signed by 51 former US intelligence officers (WSJ editorial lists all 51) that stated that the Hunter Biden laptop was likely Russian disinformation.

Segregation at Illinois State University and Others
Many Americans were glad to witness the waning of the cultural turbulence that roiled America in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Racism was diminishing, and the Vietnam War was over. Hardened divisions were softening. But in sullied ivory towers, the revolutionary minds, libidinous bodies, and fevered dreams of leftists without a cause or boundaries began constructing ideas to impose on an unsuspecting nation. Those ideas have coalesced in “wokism,” which has taken root like a noxious weed. And now almost-moribund divisions are springing up everywhere, especially on college campuses.
Across the nation, we are seeing the insalubrious fruits of wokism choking out goodwill, unity, and peace during what should be a joyous graduation season.
